1.25" Filter Tilt Adapter. Who is interested?

Post by bart1805 »

Good evening everyone!

In another thread Bob Yoesle mentioned a filter tilt adapter he saw:
http://astrograph.net/epages/www_astrog ... GT2125TILT

He asked if anybody knew what it was exactly. At that time I was emailing with Gerd Neumann about the idea of making a doublestack adapter for two PST etalons, based on his filter drawer:
https://www.gerdneumann.net/english/fil ... ystem.html

I asked Gerd if he knew anything about the adapter and he came to the same conclusion as Bob about the origin of the tilt adapter: The Baader unit was a prominence viewing device with a relatively wide band H alpha (10-20 A ?) filter and occulting disc to view prominences on the limb. The idea is to use this tilt adapter to "fight the reflections" when imaging CaK, but there will be other ways to use it off course.

Anyway: Gerd thinks he is able to make the unit as a custom made part. Bob wants a couple of them, me too. Bob and I both think that plus or minus 5 degrees will be enough. And yes there are still questions: how precise can the tilt be adjusted and how well does it stay fixed if you have applied some tilt?

Suggestion is to use T-threaded extensions rings with 15mm length as the base for the adapter. First indication of the price is about 100 euro's. That is the indication Gerd gave, not mine. Off course it will be more interesting for him if the badge is bigger. So: who else is interested? And what questions would you have? My suggestion is to ask the questions here, so I can put them all in one email to Gerd.

CS! Bart.

Hi Bart,
I have two of these tilt adapters (from Beloptik). I used them for testing Omega Ha filters. They work fine.
The tilt is rather easy to adjust. They stay tuned (there are two screws which can be tightened more or less).

Hi Christian,
Thanks! Are that two Baader units or custom made adapters by Oliver?
