The Sun - 14th Feb

Post by David_The_Bears_Fan »

Some good clear skies here this afternoon so had to make the most of that.

Very fain prom in Ca-K, noisy due to ridiculous stretch to get it to show.

And then some tri-light images of the active areas.

Thanks Pepe, Eric, Rainer & Mark. The sun is shining again this morning, fingers crossed it stays that way until I have a chance to get out there!

That's a great collection David :hamster:

When you take your white light images can you focus on the poles? the BAA are asking all solar imagers to submit their images if they find polar faculae which should be quite prominent this year (solar minimum). Just a little challenge for you as you are such a good WL imager :)

Love this series of images, David. It looks like you really perfected imaging CaK proms.

Thanks Alexandra, Franco :bow2

How far north / south do faculae have to be to count as "Polar"? I wonder if the group in my image from yesterday qualify as they did seem to be at higher latitude than normal (bottom right of this image)

I think they have to be above 70 degrees or so, they seem to be literally at the poles. I think Feb/March good for the south pole and September the north pole.

Ok, thanks will try to capture poles (regardless of what I see visually) each time I image.
