Feb 14, 15 more testing

Post by Astrophil »

Here are a few shots using the Quantum Six and Solar Spectrum with more testing with the addition of a PST etalon. Adding a PST to the system is not easy and I have a lot of respect for those who have had success double stacking them.

Yesterday a region of increased activity crept over the limb and continues to make its way across the disk. Looks promising. Some small proms as well.

Phil:
Superb shots, they look so 3D that one wants to touch them.
Best regards,
Eric.

I agree with Eric, very 3D results. Excellent detail also.

Well done,

Phil...

Great shots and I'd day the first inverted image looks very 3D indeed !!!

Thanks Marty, Eric, Mark, Franco, and Brian. Sometimes interesting things happen while testing.

These look great! And you don't seem to be bothered by reflections and banding. So Solar Spectrum plus PST etalon is an interesting road!

Thanks Alexandra, I tried to keep them on the softer side. (Mainly to hide problems)

Bart, the PST is proving problematic and has been removed from the system for a while. A circular polarizer helped with the reflections but banding, distortion, and inconsistent tuning still remains. I will be asking for help soon. Thanks for the comments. A lot of cropping and extensive hand processing was applied to hide problems.

You did a very good job hiding these problems! Here is what I will be trying in a couple of weeks when doublestacking:
