Great sunspots of the cycle 24. AR12585 with C11 280mm sperture.

Post by Valery »

Hi all,

The sun is really boring with no spots on it's face. And no great prominences too.

So, lets look back to the days of higher activity with great sun spots of the cycle 24.

Here is the AR12585 from September 2016 as seen through my trusty 11" SCT Celestron

equipped with the ARIES full size 295mm three bands DERF filter and a very inexpensive

small 20mm Ha etalon. This DERF brings an advantage of using full 280mm aperture of C11,

not a small off axis 70-80mm aperture. A 280mm aperture is a real game changer. You can see

this looking at this photo.

One can see such a picture in a real time on a 17", 19" or a 24" screen!

Thanks for looking.

Another remarkable image, Valery.

A small but highly 'selected' etalon, no doubt :)
