May 5th Images

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

We have had the worst stretch of cloudy, rainy weather the past few months which has taken its toll on my imaging efforts.

Clouds and rain are taking a toll on the farms here this spring too...now a couple of weeks behind fertilizer application and planting, and I've spent most of my time at work helping growers sort out what part of their winter wheat crop is worth keep and what to destroy and plant to something else. Most fields are so wet I can hardly walk in them with rubber boots on :( There are also record floods as some rivers swell with snow melt water flooding out tens of thousands of homes in many parts of the country.

Anyway, we did have sunny skies on Saturday afternoon and I spent the evening out of town observing with friends, and returned home on Sunday morning to clear skies. I went to the observatory to grab some images of AR2740 and I wasn't disappointed with the views!

The first image is a composite of separate disk and limb images (limb inverted), taken with the LS80T/DSII/B1200Ha solar scope:

I spend a lot of time trying to get some results from the large scope (C9.25 Edge/Daystar full ERF), but the seeing prevented any of the SER files form yielding anything of use. The modded CR-150/DSII/B1800Ha scope did manage to get a nice shot of the AR with a 3x tele-converter ahead of the camera:

That's it for the session...great to see others imaging results posted as well...following what is going on above the clouds.

Fabulous images Brian, at least you got some Sun to enjoy this beauty :hamster:

We are actually having one of the driest and warmest spring on record, I guess we get the opposite to you across the pond :)
