May 10: AR2740 / 2741 in H alpha
Hi Everyone.
A battle between clouds and worsening turbulence made this imaging session a short one but I managed to capture a panorama (4 pane mosaic) of the two active regions. Equipment used: Aries ERF, Celestron C8 Edge, Moonlite CHL focuser, ~f/46 Telecentric, Daystar QPE 0.6A, ~f/27 FR, PGR USB3 Grasshopper IMX174. Presented in normal and inverted views. Thanks for looking.
Cheers.
Peter

Thank you Franco, Eric and Brian.
Brian, I hope your fields are drying up a little. It's disconcerting to read about the flooding going on in Ontario.
Cheers.

Nice work, Peter.
BTW. Why not to consider to add an air-spaced etalon to your QUANTUM PE 0,6A? Say, LS50FHa. I belive it will work amazingly well.
BTW2 Do you plan to image this nice AR12741 in a He D3 line?

Re: May 10: AR2740 / 2741 in H alpha
Thank you Mark, Marty and Valery.
Valery;
You've identified the top two items on my "to do" list!
Double stacking the Daystar and the Lunt LS50Ha etalon has proven to be challenging. Putting these both in a f/46 telecentric beam still gives me interference fringes (2-3) across the fov, no matter how much I adjust the etalon angle or rotation. Putting the Lunt in a collimated beam and the Daystar in a telecentric is a possibility I've contemplated but the field angle in the collimated beam seems to be too large over a reasonable fov. My goal now is to put both these filters in tandem in a f/100 telecentric beam. I'm just waiting on some lenses to reconfigure my optics to accomplish this (without adding too much length on to the optics train behind the scope). Soon!
As far as BTW2, I hope to set up my spectroheliograph for some imaging tomorrow (Monday) morning. Hopefully, weather and seeing will cooperate and I should have a few chances in the coming week while the ARs are still visible. The HeD3 should be interesting as it shows good absorption in active regions.
Cheers.

Re: May 10: AR2740 / 2741 in H alpha
Peter...
The weather started to dry things up a bit late last week, but we have had some light drizzle this afternoon and 3 days of rain in the forecast, so this is shaping up to be one of the coldest, latest springs in memory. It is also affecting most of the province and even the mid west from what I've heard.
The flooding is mainly in the Ottawa region well to the east of me, and a couple of hours north in Bracebridge, so I'm lucky in that regard.
