Sunday Sunshine 12th May
In true fashion this weekend the weather has been glorious, and is often the case was busy with other things. So, didn't get back till sunday lunchtime and with nice blue skies got set up. The seeing wasn't great and I was struggling up at 90mm so I kept below this as time was tight with other things to be busy with this afternoon.
First off a full disk in WL (656nm) with the ED80, Lunt wedge and FLIR GH3 ICX814 camera, nice to see some spots!

Swapping the wedge for the sodium quark for a closer look at the spots:

Stopping the ED80 down to 60mm and dropping down to 393nm for a look in CaK:

Zooming in for a closer look with the 3x barlow next;

Ha was my favourite today, and a full disk with the SM90 double stacked with my Lunt50 etalon. I love all the little proms around the limb, and is definitely worth double clicking the image to view it full size in Flickr.

Then double stacking the SM90 with the Quark for the obligatory Ha closeup of the activity.

Pleased with todays bounty, hopefully be able to image before I go to work in the morning,..

Hi Mark,
Great Images. Well done. Especially that white line through the dark spot. Do not know what the name is for that.

Re: Sunday Sunshine 12th May
Thanks everyone! The 3x CaK was also taken at 60mm Bart (80mm stopped down to 60mm), seeing wasn't great, on a good day I can resolve penumbral fibrils at 60mm aperture, today was just a bit blurry. It's called a light bridge Rainer, forms when the sunspot is diminishing in activity.

Re: Sunday Sunshine 12th May
Very curious to see a dark line surrounding AR12741 in the sodium image where the bright plage is located in Halpha and CaK. Also some interesting dark areas and patterns in the CaK. There is always more going on in the subtle detail if you look hard enough between wavelengths. Nice work Mark and I am glad you managed a view. I thought the seeing improved towards lunchtime as the jetstream moved away.

Great set Mark. I especially like the white light. Terrific resolution.
