Hi,
Recently bought a quark prom second hand, its got a lot of problems (4 in total) but the worst turned out to be a failed ERF.
Anyone got a solution to this?
No idea of the age I'm afraid.
Regards Nigel

Re: Replacement Quark ERF
You mean the blocking filter, I see. You have to replace it, there is no other solution. Mine too degraded, I bought a new one from Andover.

Re: Replacement Quark ERF
Actually it does both jobs, cuts etalon harmonics and protects the etalon from excessive heat. Unfortunately this kind of filters are not designed specifically for solar observing and shall therefore be protected by using of some energy rejection device placed in front of them. Based on what occurred to my Quark BF I now think that a UV/IR cut filter as recommended by Daystar is not enough, a Baader 35nm filter would be much better.
