Old school solar observation

Old school solar observation

Check out two extremely rare pieces of equipment for observing the Sun:

1- Clave' Helioscope (triple-prism erector)
2- Clave' Pentaprism (90º Helisoscopic pentaprism )

Available from Clave' (Paris) in the seventies (images from my private collection).

Thanks Alexandra

These two Clave' acc are similar to Herschel Wedges.

The Pentaprism has a fitted X2 barlow and a neutral density filter and the Heliscope has 3 prisms in-line producing 5 reflexions

Nice equipment!

Many many years ago I have used Zeiss pentaprism with 6" Zeiss apochromat in the local public observatory.

Check out two old scopes for solar observation

Secretan 56mm F/12 School refractor (Lunette Pedagogique) and a very rare Takahashi TS-50 F/14 achromatic refractor

The Secretan was used with a Secretan solar wedge and a Sun Filter (20mm Secretan eyepiece)

The Taka TS-50 was fitted with a Pre-Meade SM40 and a BF15 (Baader Zoom eyepiece)

Oh My Pedro, good to see your museum items are getting Sun-tanned today - as they should be on occasions.

Memories are made of these.

Thanks for sharing
