Aug 10 HA Quark 152 Processed
I'm experimenting with post-processing. What I found fascinating was that in the captured video I saw NO proms, but after curves in IMPPG I found these. I found the proms at the "whale's tale" end of the IMPPG curves.

Hey Jack,
That's a pretty good start for a new setup! You certainly pulled the proms out. You might try using a flat frame, even with limb shots, to even out the image. Just move the camera off the limb toward the disk and take a short video. It can be applied in AS. Quarks seem to be finicky as to the optimum temperature settings but you might try a little hotter (clockwise).
Looking good, can't wait to see more.
Phil

Sage advice. Thank you.
I’ve not read a description of the Quark temp that makes me comprehend yet and my fiddling with the knob has not helped me yet.
I’m excited to be learning.

What a lucky find a very nice pic
You must spend time with your Quark, it will make all the difference to your imaging. Here was my test https://solarnutcase.livejournal.com/12257.html

Re: Aug 10 HA Quark 152 Processed
Thank you all for the encouragement.
Phil, I increased the temp on a very quick test and you were correct but my results are anecdotal rather than accurate so I will be thorough this weekend.
Alexandra, thank you for that blog link...great information and I will replicate the test Saturday I hope. Great documentary (as per your usual generous nature). Your seeing was much better than mine. Do you remember the scope you used?
My flats stink in SharpCap. They come out REALLY weird. I will do some research because I would rather have live flats. On the other hand, does SharpCap create videos using the flats or just the raw data which would then force me to use flats in AS3.

Re: Aug 10 HA Quark 152 Processed
Jack, I used the TEC140 with a 135mm DERF. Do not use flats for your dial settings test! you need to see how the on band centre line comes across the field of view.
Firecapture does flats during capture but the capture rate goes down by half. It is much easier to go to the centre of the Sun, place a piece of cling film over the front of the scope and capture 200 frames and use that to make a flat in ASK3.
