August 24th Ha Set

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

I was able to image on Saturday and Sunday last weekend, but work has kept me busy and slowed down processing all the captures. I have the set from the 24th ready and posted below. I would have liked to assemble this a bit better but time is scarce to do any more.

The first images are the full disk composite images from separate disk and limb exposures, taken through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1200Ha double stacked solar scope. The Grasshopper Express camera (ICX674 chip) was used for these, and the second pic with a longer exposure highlights the prom on the NW limb nicely:

The next image is a seven frame mosaic that covers the activity on the NW limb between 14:26Ut and 17:29UT, with an inverted strip at the bottom. They were all imaged through the DS scope, but with a 3x barlow ahead of the camera, and most of these were taken with the Flea3 camera (ICX445 chip). Attempts at an animation were poor due to the jumpy time sequence and difficulty aligning the frames, so I put the strip together instead:

The final image shows the proms on the SE limb, with an inset of the larger prom taken approximately 2.5 hrs earlier, showing a lot of change in the structure:

This covers the Saturday session, and Sundays is close to being completed. I hope to get these posted tomorrow after dropping my daughter and all her possessions off in Guelph Saturday to start her first year of university. Her older brother is more self sufficient and has his own car, so he heads back on Sunday. Time to get used to the 'empty nest' during the school year now...almost 20 years since Sandy and I were on our own :o

Questions and comments are always welcome,
Brian

Mark and Maurits...thanks for your comments on the images. Very much appreciated :bow

Mark, its not like they are gone for good ;) Scott came home about once a month his first year, and he is doing relief milking for a neighbor through the fall so he should still be home every other weekend or so. I don't know how often Madeline will be planning to come home, but there are several local kids that she can get rides with even if her brother isn't planning to be home the same weekend. Our Thanksgiving holiday is the second weekend in October so that will draw them home too. We will just have a week or two at a time when we are on our own

Very nice detail on those faint proms, Brian. The sequence shows the activity well.
