An Introduction

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Hello All,

My name is James but I'll go by DeepSolar here. To describe a little about myself, I am 54 years old and have been into astronomy since my parents bought me a small 50mm refractor all the way back in 1978. Astronomy has truly been a lifetime hobby for me and I have quite a number of scopes. Some may be considered classics. I have an old Criterion Dynascope in perfect working order, a 10.1" Coulter reflector and Edmund Astroscan. All work. I have nine scopes in all. From old to very new. My most recent scopes are a Coronado Solarmax II 60 and an Orion white light 70mm solarscope. I have been into white light solar for many years but only 4 months ago dove into Ha with the Coronado. It has truly been a learning experience. I had wanted an Ha scope for many years but expense always stopped me. Though still expensive Ha scopes have finally came into a range where I could afford one. Deep sky astronomy has always been my favorite over the years but I must say that solar rivals it quite closely and I love the more convenient observing hours! I am certainly here to both share and learn. I look forward to discussing all things solar here!

Thanks:

DeepSolar

Thanks all of you. Except for a few iPhone images so far I have been strictly visual. I do hope to get into solar photography though. One exception is photographing white light projected images.
