September 1st Ha Session

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

I finally managed to get some time to post these images from Sunday, and like everyone else was very happy to see some activity on the disk.

The first set of images are various palates of my standard full disk composite using separate disk and limb exposures, using the doubled stacked LS80T/LS75FHa/B1200HA solar scope and PGR Grasshopper Express camera:

The image below used a longer exposure to enhance the fainter of the two proms on the eastern side of the disk:

After the full disk set was captured I changed over to the modded CR-150/DSII/B1200Ha scope to image the activity in higher resolution. A 3x tele-extender was used ahead of the ZWO174MM camera for these images. First is a 2 frame mosaic of the eastern limb and AR2748:

The limb activity continued to put on a good show, and the seeing was stable enough to get a reasonable images of the main proms:

With the nice activity associated with the new AR I set up the Quark Chromosphere Combo as a DS on the modded scope, and captured the AR and the largest prom. Some of the transition of the loop across the limb is visible as well:

That's cover the session form Sunday.

Hi Brian,
Beautiful set of full disks w/proms. Nice detail on the filament to the north and proms. I'm beginning to think that the Ontario Sun is more photogenic than the one in Florida.

Maurits, Mark, and Phil...

Thanks for your feedback and comments, they are always appreciated :bow

Phil, a few months from now when it's sub zero here the Florida sun will look remarkably better

Nice close-up of the AR and the proms, Brian! And beautiful disks - my favourite is the inverted one.

Hi Brian,

An excellent harvest. Got me thinking about doing proms capture.
