Good day everyone...

The final weekend of the summer is going out on a heat wave, with temps in the high 20's C over the last few days. I was working Saturday morning but couldn't resist trying to image after lunch. Although the disk looked pretty barren visually in Ha, the camera was able to pull up many small spots of disk activity and some nice proms as well.

Since I was fighting time and drifting clouds I limited the session to the LS80T/LS75/B1200Ha double stacked scope. I started with full disk images and assembled the disk/limb composite below:

A longer exposure pulled up a few more small proms:

I added the 3x tele-extender to the optical train ahead of the camera to bump the resolution. I think the seeing would have allowed the larger modded scope, but still happy with the results. A mosaic of the disk excluding the poles is shown below"

I though that was the end of the days solar work, but I had a little time late in the afternoon to setup the C9.25HD/Daystar Full ERF and experiment a little with eh Quark Combo. I have not had a lot of time to play with it, but figured the proms might be decent targets. Late afternoon seeing was far form ideal, but I got the images below at prime focus, and the camera binned 2x2 (ZWO174MM):

The last images were taken with the 3x tele-extender ahead of the camera, but the seeing wasn't allowing any captures of value, save for the one below:

Nice work, Brian.

I have the same camera and was advised that Binning 2x2 made the already large pixels too large. What was your reasoning to try? It obviously still paid off in nice proms.

Nice results, Brian. On the same day the seeing here was absolutely awful. I set up, scanned around and packed up without taking any images at all, it was THAT bad. Glad you had better luck.

Jack...The seeing was less than ideal, and the long focal length of the C9.25 would not support smaller pixels...even in this setup the details are not there. I'd say the 6" modded scope might have been worth a try on the proms after seeing the results from the other scopes.

These are first class Brian, a super full disc to start with, I wouldn't say the main disc was barren, there are quite a few hot spots both in the middle (old cycle) and new cycle up by the poles. Of course the proms were the star of the show
We had a super day Saturday too, probably the last of the year and now back to rain this week and gusty wind, a sure sign of autumn.

Alexandra...summer and fall are fighting it out here...warm and sunny one day, cool and wet the next. We can take all the sun and warmth to finish off the crops but I'm steadily working on my firewood supply
