New Active Region in CaK - 31st March

Post by marktownley »

Following on from imaging in Ha this morning, this afternoon presented a few fleeting gaps in what was generally continuous cloud cover, so, I took the opportunities to get some views in the short end of the spectrum. Seeing wasn't great, but, better than nothing. Full disk taken with the ED80 (stopped down to 60mm), 1.4x barlow, home brew CaK filter and the GH3 U3 916M camera:

Swapping the barlow for a 3x and the camera for the IMX174 chipped PGR, I took a closer view:

Surprised me how dark the sunspot is, guess I forgot what they are like! Hope there are clear skies where you are and hope you get a look.

Mark

Pretty nice coverage of the AR/spot, Mark. Fingers crossed for some more opportunities (with hopefully good seeing) this week.
