April 3, 2020 AR+Prom

Post by Astrophil »

Hi All,

Another sunny day and time to see what the Sun was showing us. AR2759 is still the main event although less energetic is seems. Also a nice prom to the southeast that I struggled to image. It reminded me of a volcano erupting. The Quantum Six scope was used with and without a focal reducer and there does not seem to be much to gain by taking the reducer out of the system.
Here's what I captured today.

These shots are brilliant Phil! You consistently get good results with 6" aperture, I reckon you could easily use a bigger scope with your seeing conditions.

Phil,
Your superb images easily pass the "Viewing from an orbiting satellite" Test. :bow
It all just looks incredibly real right down to the finest detail.

My wife refers to such fine images as "moths in a tufted carpet."
So far I can only dream of "getting moths in the carpet." ;)

Sumptuous detail in these Phil :bow :hamster: the prominence looks like it is plagued by a swarm of mosquitoes :)
