Prominences Sunday May 31st.

Post by arnedanielsen »

Dear all,

Due to other commitments it's been quite a while since I've done any solar imaging (or astronomy in general). I'm trying to gradually get back at it and last Sunday (May 31st) I spent the whole day imaging our favorite object.

Using a 2" Baader 35nm H-Alpha filter as an ER-filter I tried my Quark Chromosphere for the first time with an Explore Scientific 152mm f/6,5 refractor. This gave a focal length of 4150mm and with my ASI ZWO 174mm sampling of 0,29" per pixel. The seeing was rather mediocre, but I'm quite happy with how well this setup worked out.

Attached are images of the 3 most interesting prominences of the day. Each image is a result of stacking the best 400 images out of 2000. The images were captured in FireCapture (using SolarMonitor plugin for SSM), stacked in AutoStakkert and sharpened in AstraImage.

Best regards,
Arne
