June 5 2020 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Mostly cloudy skies. Temp 81F. Observations around 2:00 PM EDT (US). Seeing above average.

Coronado SolarMax II 60DS. 16x and 21.5x. ( Ha )
A large hedgerow filament visble on southern part of disc. The AR plage containing 3 spots is an easy object on the SE part of disc. The northern AR is still visible. I see two filaments near it and another a little ways off. I see only 1 small prominence today.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x. ( WL )
Three sunspots visible! The leading one has some size to it and sports a nice penumbral skirt. The two other smaller spots trail behind in an arc. It’s like a mom and her two kids! The associated facula is easily seen too.

I hope this isn’t hard to read and is less descriptive than what I usually do. My home internet is down so I am using my phone and this bulletin board format is not very phone friendly. It needs an app bad!!

James.

Thanks for your report, James. I missed the filament, seems really large.

It shows on the GONG image. It is not really that big but wasn’t hard to see once you got on band for it.

Hi James,

Though less description, your narrative is informative, concise and interesting to read. Thanks.
