June 12 2020 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Temp 75F, partly cloudy. Seeing fair. I observed from Noon to about 1:30pm EDT local time ( US ).

Coronado SolarMax II 90 DS. 32x and 44.5x ( Ha )
One large faint filament visible on the southwest limb. It was a loose triangular shape when I first started observing it with two bright knots within it. By the time I concluded with observations one side had faded away leaving the other as a leaning vague wisp with some internal structure visible. I could tune various details along the length of it using the tuning peg. Below it are two other much brighter proms. The northernmost one looks like a little branching tree! A couple of other small bushy proms are located northward around the limb. Tiny more difficult ones are also spied on the NE limb. I see three filaments on the disc. Small ones on the NW and SE parts of the disc. AR12765 shows an easy open-bottomed plage with it's attending long filament. The filament seems a little less dark today than it has been. The attending spot can be seen.

Astro-Tech AT72EDII w/Altair wedge. 21.5x and 43x ( WL )
AR12765's spot is easily seen on the SW disc. It's penumbra is still present. No pores or other spots seen. The surrounding facula is visible but of low contrast. Very fine granulation visible.

James
