Full disk 13-06-2020

Post by rsfoto »

Hi,

After two days of clouds, a bit of necessary rain in these two days and today finally some Sun again.

Seeing was not as good a a few days ago. Difficult to get stable AVI's.

Nothing new and looks like we will ahve some spotfree days as I do not see anything exciting in the heliograohic image in the SDO website

Nice HA and WL shots.

The AR is rather quiet as it makes its way to the limbs.

Good as always, Rainer.

Looks like we'll be going back to blank disk very soon indeed.

Hi Peter,

Yes. The H-alpha is made from 9 images and the WL is made from 4 images.

For example the H-alpha images are as below. Each indivudual image about 900 x 900 pixels.

Hi James,

Not really. In the latest PS CS 2020 I am using there is a script called Load files into a Stack or something like that. After that you increase the size of the work area using the canvas feature, then you move the images one on top of the other using the function difference, this helps you to align the details and when that is done then you select all images and in edit you activate blend all layers and done.

After that I clean up the image from dead otr hot pixels, apply a bit of Level correction and Unsharp mask and ready. I really do not know why they called it Unsharp mask as in reality you apply a sharpness on your image ...

Rainer,
That reminds me of a function on an older program of PhotoShop Elements called PhotoMerge. You could use it to align two images taken for that purpose to create a panorama. Mosaics go a bit beyond this using several images. The principal idea sounds similar to what you do.

James

Yes, I was going to say that too James. I have the version of Photoshop CS5 and use PhotoMerge for my 13 pane mosaics, surely it should be in the latest version?

Hi,

I remember that you many months or more then a year ago pointed me to a PlugIn for manually arranging the tiles. When I changed over to PS CS 2020 I found out there is no PlugIn anymore and there that script of loading into a stack and that makes exactly the same as the PlugIn.

PhotoMerge is more capable than I thought. I never tried mosaics with it.
