The dynamics of sunspots
Hello!
I took these photos of sunspot groups AR 2396 and AR 2403 in August 2015, from Korolyov, Moscow Oblast, Russia (the weather was clear almost every day, but the atmospheric conditions were always different, so the clarity of the photos is different).
Camera: Canon EOS 60D with 2x Barlow lens, 640x480 video mode. Telescope: Sky-Watcher BK P2001 EQ5; filter from Baader AstroSolar visual film. Processing: RegiStax 5.1 (without resize).
It was very exciting to watch the daily changes in the structure of large sunspots, so I decided to make a collage showing the dynamics of these groups.
With best regards,
Filipp.

Hi Filipp,
That is an outstanding collection showing the evolution of the ARs. I remembered them. Here is one of mine from that time:

Hello Alfred,
Thank you, your images are good! I had the opportunity to photograph only in white light.

Re: The dynamics of sunspots
Amazing archive material showing the relevant detail AR 2403 - which I remember.
The camera and the Solar film were more than capable of taking such WL images.
Alfred, well-nice 3-lines of light.
Thanks for sharing Filipp and Alfred.

Fabulous!!
you are very lucky to be able image the same spot over several days, I'm lucky to get one view of a big spot group

Re: The dynamics of sunspots
Thanks for your comments! In 2014, there were many large sunspots too. During that year, I watched (and photographed) the Sun 160 times, during which time I saw about 174 groups of spots.

Re: The dynamics of sunspots
I hope in a few years such a high solar activity will recur.

Re: The dynamics of sunspots
It is very interesting ! This is great you were able to follow the evolution over some many days.
Here is an image taken probably arround the same day as your frame #6.
We are missing these large sunspots ...

Re: The dynamics of sunspots
Christian, thanks for sharing! I think if I were shooting not through visual solar film, but through photographic film, then detailing would be better.

Re: The dynamics of sunspots
I was wondering whether there could be some loss of resolution with the 640x480 video mode ?

Re: The dynamics of sunspots
I did not notice a loss of resolution when using this mode. In my comparison, the resolution is even better than with the 1920x1080 mode.
