June 15 2020 Observations. Fighting clouds!

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Temp 65F. 95 percent of the sky cloudy! Time observed 2:25pm to 2:50pm EDT, on and off. I observed to the very last minute as the sun tried to fight his way outta the clouds. Taking notes and then posting the report many hours later after work.

Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x ( Ha )
After several short attempts ( Small holes in clouds ) I finally make out three filaments in a line on the SW side of the disc. I also see one prominence on the SE side of the disc. I see no spot or plage from the former AR. Spicule mottling visible across disc.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x ( WL )
Through a series of quick views I see no hint of the disappearing AR or it's spot. Blank disc.

This was all a series of annoyingly short observations through holes in thick cloud cover at the last minutes of available time I had to observe. Though meager I was lucky to get this much.

James

Good report James, it's monsoon season here, good for watching fierce cumuli nimbus clouds but not good for the sun.

Thanks for the report James, there isn't much on the disc but at least you managed a view :hamster:

Hi James,

You must be glad to catch the filaments and proms in HA.

Good to hear you managed to get a quick peek in (even if there wasn't much to see).
