Quick Shots Between the Showers 21st June
Sunday was a day of showers, and not much sunshine, but I was keen to get out and test my rebuilt CaK filter. Changing the Baader K-line for an Edmunds optics 394/10nm filter has halved exposure time. For the FD this might not be of as much consequence but for closer shots there is more merit.

FDs were taken at 60mm aperture with f16 at the filter and chip. Going up to 100mm aperture and f28, and while the seeing in between the shower clouds wasn't supporting this aperture, I was keen to find how exposure time was affected with the new setup.

I'm now using half the amount of gain I was previously, and with an Astronomik L1 UV/IR cut filter on back order, when it comes i'm confident exposure time will reduce again. All positive stuff!
I decided to go for a quick Ha FD late in the afternoon in between the bands of showers. Not used the scope for a couple of weeks, and with a bit more time I would have got the etalon a little more even across the fov.

Weather forecast is good for the week ahead after 3 weeks of rain, so hope to get more images in, fingers crossed first thing in the morning will deliver better seeing.

A great series, Mark, very sharp. Glad you had a chance to image in between the rain.

Re: Quick Shots Between the Showers 21st June
Thanks Mark for the images, which are v.sharp.
Although a quiet disk, some detail can be seen of those two (AR's) that never came to anything, plus some proms trying to break through into the Ha image.
As you say, the forecast for the next few days is looking promising for at least S.E.England, so hopefully will get to do some imaging - if B.T. doesn't interfere any more.
Also to get that info you requested - even.
Regards
Terry

Hi Mark,
Nice images! And a very useful info about the filter construction. Let us know it's final version, please.

Looks like the CaK setup is performing well at first sight.

Looking good there, Mark. Useful to know about the alternative 394nm filter.
