Excellent visual report Andrew. You picked out quite a bit on a bland Sun. I know I find it quite a challenge.

Thanks for the report Andrew, hopefully some good opportunity in the days ahead for some sun, although I have woke this morning to a complete blanket of cloud.

Well done Andrew. It's a shame you weren't better rewarded for your time at your telescopes.

I am set for several days of continuous sunshine with nothing much to see on the sun.
Even the proms at 11 o clock [NE] aren't particularly large or exciting.

I have patrolled the whole disk and limb with a huge image on the monitor from my 6" f/10 H-a.
It was a real struggle to find more than a short lived, very dark filament at 8 o'clock near the [SE] limb.

There were some odd linear features in H-a. Some continuous and others almost joined in a long series.
Almost like paler, raised ridges and usually quite near to the limb.
Some of these "lines" run for nearly 1/8 of the Ø of the solar disk.

Complex triangular features too. Made up of these same ridges in the SE.
Rings and groups of circles are common features at these very large scales in H-a.
Almost lunar in nature at times and all very seeing dependent, of course.

Dear Andrew,

Great to see your report. What EP did you use with the second telescope (110mm Vixen VMC110)? It has been raining almost daily. No solar ops :(

Thanks for a great report Andrew :hamster: nothing but cloud so far here this week, but they do say sunshine tomorrow and Thursday. I need to ask the Sun which day I should take as a holiday and which day the Sun will have some excellent features :)

Hi Alfred,

I would have used a 25mm Clave' Plossl. Its a cheap and cheerfull telescope and will not take more magnification. I used it to develop my PST Stage 2 Mod on. And it has full customised baffles on the secondary and top of the promary baffle and has a dark background. Its nice and portable.

I actually tried some barlows on it but too fuzzy. Cant compare to the 90mm triplet for higher power.

Cheers. Andrew.
