27th June'20 SATURDAY AR in the SW Quadrant
Hi Folks,
At around 0537z this morning 27/6/2020, in the SW Quadrant, a new AR developed, where at that time what appeared to be a flare may also have occurred. SDO has shown this in several lines of light.
Whether it remains whilst travelling around the limb and possibly upon its' return, is of course hopeful...
https://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/dashboard/
There is also a hugely-long "Bridge" prominence in the same area at 11:00z... !!
Weather here in S.E.England covered in the thick-stuff, so not able to get any images...
Regards
Terry

Its an emerging flux region, brightening is common with their formation but they're not flares. The GOES line is flat for today.
It might develop into an active region, we will have to see, or it may be more ephemeral in nature. It certainly is a dipole in nature.
Shame it's not more mid disk for us to find out.

Thanks Mark for that info.
i agree that it could have been more interesting if it had occurred around seven-days ago, but possibly over the next 48-hours...

Looks like it's faded since this morning. Textbook emerging flux region.

[/img]Hi all,
I can still see the AR on SDO
Unfortunately I missed it because of poor weather.

Looks like it is pepping up again as it approaches the limb. Maybe there's life in it yet!

Re: 27th June'20 SATURDAY AR in the SW Quadrant
Yes indeed Mark and Alfred - great pic - thanks. Perhaps from the report below, Alfred will get a second chance...
In fact I have just read from Spaceweather.com, that they are showing a couple of spots and if that continues for another day from their report of the 28th as:-
"SOLAR CYCLE 25 SUNSPOT: A bipolar sunspot is emerging near the sun's southwestern limb, and it appears to be a member of new Solar Cycle 25. The sunspot is inset in this magnetic map of the Sun's surface made June 28th by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory:
The sunspot's magnetic polarity (+/-) and high latitude (26S) identify it as a member of new Solar Cycle 25. If it survives another day, the sunspot will receive an official number (AR2766), making it the 10th numbered new-cycle sunspot so far this year. Ten sunspots is a lot during Solar Minimum. Their growing number is a sign that Solar Cycle 25 is gaining strength. "
So maybe we have seen another emerging AR2766, which hopefully come round on the SE limb as such... (I did say hopefully) !!!
Regards
Terry
