Ha Views - 3rd August
Mondays weather did exactly the same as Sundays weather did for me - crystal clear blue skies first thing before the instability kicked in and the sky clouded. Given the good seeing first thing I decided to try the HaT out and see if it would hold up; it just about did and for a change I got some usable images. I'll do the sequence in reverse order, starting with the full disk (which was taken last) in between the clouds after the weather had turned for the day. Taken with the 50mm lunt etalon double stacked with a Quark.

Then, my favourite shot of the session, double stacking the SM90 with the Quark and using the IMX174 camera provided a lush contrast rich panorama of the cycle 25 jet stream in the suns northern hemisphere and it's trio of active regions.

And, saving the first shots till last, taken with the 8" Airylab HaT, 2.7x telecentric and Quark, again IMX174 camera. Just about passable with the seeing. AR12768 surprised me with it's cluster of plage spots:

Then finally the 2 active regions close to the limb, AR12769 and (likely designated) AR12770 which has a largish single spot associated with it.

Pleased with the haul, a nice start to the day. Looking on STEREO there's another cycle 25 region of activity in the southern hemisphere which will have rounded by the weekend. All good stuff!
Hope like these and is sunny where you are.
Mark

Excellent images Mark. That new area on the east limb looks really promising for the next few days.

Thanks Dan, there were lots of surges going on with it so I think there's some life in it...

Re: Ha Views - 3rd August
Thanks Marty, it is good to have something other than a blank sun, it seemed like cycle 25 would never get going.

Excellent work as usual Mark. And you got a brand new AR that Hinode picked up rounding the limb yesterday. Now I am waiting for spot groups!

Re: Ha Views - 3rd August
I like these a lot, Mark. The full disk and the mid field views are very rich and have great detail and contrast. Glad you took out the HaT for a spin, the results are very good. It seems that the sun all of a sudden is very active, with multiple sunspots, plages and filaments... let's enjoy while it lasts.

Re: Ha Views - 3rd August
That SM90 + Quark combo is something special Mark - superb detail. Must try something similar with my Lunt 100Ha while I have out of storage.

Re: Ha Views - 3rd August
Oooh!! I like the HaT images a lot!! very nice detail I had wished I had got the C11 out earlier on the Friday because even at 11am the PST was just about passable, but I couldn't risk it, I went for imaging with the TEC instead for the early session

Hi Mark,
I thought I’d already commented on your post, but must have forgotten to hit ‘submit’. Anyhow, great images. The HaT works well when your seeing conditions cooperate. Three cycle 25 ARs in a row in one frame....things are picking up
