2020-08-05-Dual band AR's
A beautiful sunny day here today and the start of an upcoming heatwave. So plenty of sun to be seen. Unfortunately; in these circumstances the seeing usually leaves much to be desired. Overall, I'm fairly happy with the haul; although I had discard quite a lot of data (including everything I captured in CaK).
Plenty of activity going on across the disk, with no less than 3 AR's to pick from. We're being spoiled!
Setup:
HA: 80ED, Quark Chromosphere, Baader 35nm H-Alpha filter as sub-aperture ERF, IMX174.
WL: 80ED, IR/UV filter, Baader Herschel Wedge, Solar Continuum Filter, 1.8 ND-filter, IMX178.
Thanks for looking!

What a wonderful set what happened to the CaK, was that a deliberate binning or a mistake? we still have no sun or any sign of this heatwave yet

Thanks all.
Alexandra, I binned it on purpose (too blurry). Closeup CaK only seems to come out well here when seeing is quite good; all other times it's just a blurry mess (even when other wavelengths are just fine). I still try it almost every session for the occasional keeper though (and it's not all that much trouble just changing a filter anyway).

Awesome images Jochen! I love that first Ha image. The plages look like a parting in the fine fur of a cat or other animal. It makes the sun seem alive in a way. I also like the white light images. You got the little double pore. I couldn't resolve the individual pores separate today in my observations.

Nice shots Jochen! Don't forget the effects of resolution vs wavelength - cak is 1.6x more sensitive to poor seeing than Ha.

Thanks guys!
James, the "furry" details of an AR in HA is also something that never ceases to amaze me. Probably one of the most visually pleasing things in astronomy you can observe (at that scale/detail at least).
Cheers Mark, that makes perfect sense actually. The way I see it; the CaK filter will essentially last me a lifetime if I take care of it (which I do). So even if I only get a handful of high res images out of it a year; still worth it!
