Sun Saturday 8th August 2020

Post by Carbon60 »

Hi all,

Some images in Ha and CaK from this morning which turned out much better than forecast with significant cloud cover melting away to leave a beautiful blue sky with pretty good seeing. Quite unexpected and a welcome break from the grey.

First up a six pane Ha full disk with three in a row cycle 25 features (AR2770 and two magnetically disturbed regions).
DS Lunt 60.

Some closer views of the three features taken on my 150mm/DS Lunt 35 mod, same camera and powermate:

Over to the blue in Ca II K for a full disk.

Great images, Stu. We just got power restored after 4 days with no electricity, TV and internet because of tropical storm Isaias passed through Westport. A small tornado landed on the beachside and made substantial damage. Wind up to 120 km/hour. Good to be back: fortunately we did not have damage to our home.

A very productive run of images Stu, glad the weather broke for you, I noticed it was being rather gray and damp at times further north.

Wow!! well caught Stuart, the clouds just hug over Cheshire like a bad smell all day. Today is the same, it is so frustrating.

These are beautiful Stuart :bow :hamster: the seeing must be wonderful to see such detail at the moment (more frustration)

Great set of images Stu - love the hi res Ha.
I wondered where the increasing clouds and deteriorating seeing were coming from......... you obviously sent them south to irritate me!

Many thanks, everyone. I really appreciate the feedback. The half decent weather is over for a while here and Indeed storms are expected later today and tomorrow after a hot and humid weekend in much of the UK.

I was busy yesterday gardening and, more interestingly, installing a USB radio system to detect meteors as they burn up in the upper atmosphere. I’ll check if it worked overnight later this morning.

Hi Franco, It makes our weather seem pretty tame in comparison. Stay safe.
