Stunning prom Monday afternoon, UK time

Post by Highbury Mark »

As a non imager, I was unable to capture a beautiful prom yesterday afternoon, around 3pm UK time - but am wondering if anyone else on the forum might have done?
It was on the south west limb of the solar disc - part of the main prom group in that area - and it only existed for a short while before breaking up. But it was a long, delicate, streamer shaped line of plasma suspended just above the spicule layer - several Earth sizes in length. Absolutely stunning, but short lived.

Thanks Mark. Am hoping somebody did capture and post that prom image.
Lucky you had a clear-view yourself from your location.

Cheers

I couldn't even observe it. Yesterday and today I have tropical moisture streaming NE into my area from Tropical Storm Marco in the Gulf of Mexico. I probably won't get any observations today either. Late week I will probably be impacted by Laura as well.

I guess it's my turn to get hit.
