2020-09-10 - FD dualband comparison + prom
After a very long absense; the sun graced us with its presence over here again. It won't last long; but I'll take what I can get
At first sight, not overly much going on at our parent star. The only two things that really stand out are a fairly sizeable prominence on the southeastern limb as well as a plage in the south. So those were the targets for today's session.
Setup:
HA: Lunt LS50 b600, IMX178.
CaK: 80ED (stopped down to 60mm), Lunt CaK b1800, IMX178.
Thanks for looking!

Beautiful images, Jochen. Interesting that you got some very nice images with the Lunt 50. I assume you took flats for that. How do you take your flats with the Lunt 50 ? Do you just defocus or put some transparent material over the front lens ?

Thanks all; I'm honored.
Franco, I actually never take flats (can't be bothered ). What I do however, is apply an artificial flat (for lack of a better word) in Photoshop. See the link below (writeup by Marty) for an idea of what that means exactly. The actual values used obviously differ a bit from one image to the next; but you get the general idea.

Fab images and on SPOD today Jochen.
Thanks to yourself and Pedro at least, I failed to put my images the right way up, due to the scope reversal, but hey at least like you, the weather opened-up today - at last...
Regards
Terry

Hi Jochen,
Well done and I have not seen the Sun for the last 10 days or at least had a hole big enough to record my videos.

Thanks Rainer.
I was honestly already wondering (used to seeing your images/posts). Fingers crossed that it'll pass soon enough!
