Hi

Big report today:
3 Etalons
4 Telescopes
3 Barlows
Bino-viewers and eyepieces

Two main prom groups.

90mm Triplet 3x ED Barlow Prom Quark 32mm SP
10.55 BST

12.00 Thin bright Jet Spray at top.
11.55 Diffuse jet. On left Wide pyramid with wide top seperated.

06.00 Small stumpy Prom flared out at the top.
05.55 Thin Jet, spray top leaning right

01.30 Low pyramid
02.00 Small spike leaning up

25mm Clave'
12.00 Thin bright jet bar on right. Flared top 45deg to right
11.55 Diffuse jet Fir tree. On left wide diffuse prom, 45deg down on left side, and similar small on right

10.00 Small thin jet pointing down

06.00 Stubby prom. Slayed top right side brighter

11.35 BST
Mak180 PST Mod2 35nm Omega 1.5A blocker, Bino-viewer 12x PZO Orthos '18mm'

12.00 Jet spray bar extending to left half-way to next prom
11.55 Solid hearted inverted triangle spray. 45deg 'feed' on right. Broad base to triangle. Low diffuse hedge to right rather than wide diffuse as above.

11.35 Thin jet curving right at top.

06.05 Little bi-furcated low prom.
06.00 Thin pyramid prom.
05.55 Thin jet. 05.53 Wide diffuse pyramid pro, 45deg leaning down feed on left seperated from surface. Smaller 45deg feed on right.

A better view than Quark.

12.20 BST Returned to 90mm with 35nm ERF as slight melting on plastic Moon filter holding 8mm washer stop on 3x barlow.
01.30 Thin seperated jet leaning up

12.00 Thin pyramid jet leaning up
11.55 Thin pyramid jet on left diffuse pyramid.

Got the 127mm Meade F7.5 triplet out! 35nm ERF 3x ED Barlow Prom Quark 32mm SP. Clear
12.40 BST

Current 12.00 New tall Y shaped prom. Thin extension at top left. Foot on right. Jet curling left over the foot.

Old group from 12.00 above. Less crisp, seeing? (Later realised longer fl than 90mm so moved to 2x ES Tele-extender later)
11.45 Thin jet
11.30 Thin diffuse jet. Diffuse pyramid on the right.

06.00 Diffuse jet with pyramid on the left
Underwhelmed with 3x Barlow here despite good in 90mm

Changed to 4.2x Chrom Quark More skeletal as smaller bandwidth
12.00 Two bright bars one above the other leaning right, jet on right leaning left
11.45 Thin jet
11.30 Thin diffuse jet with diffuse pyramid on right

06.00 Diffuse jet on left pyramid ?hollow base

Changed to PST Stage2 mod. 35nm ERF Omega 1.5A blocker Vignette 127mm to 95mm aperture
Bino-viewer PZO 12x '18mm' Orthos
Sharp!
Quiet small disk with PST reflections visible
Changed to 16x for larger disk and this gave a darker background. Calculate need 22.7x for 1800mm fl which seems to work best
Inverted image.
02.30 Pyramid prom with hollow base. On right thin jet and spray. On left small thin jets.

06.45 Thin bright jet leaning right slightly
06.35 Small diffuse jet. 06.30 Hedge prom with hollow base and little extension to the left. Jet from left curling to the right.

06.50 Little spike.
Good black background

Tried eyepieces to determine how much magnification can be used. 24mm Binocular eyepiece would be '9mm'.

12mm Clave'
11.45 Bright bar jet little spike to the right. Thin base. 45deg bar on top right.
11.30 Diffuse dim jet. On left dumpy prom with hollow base, seperate jet to right top curling over dumpy prom to the right
08.00 Little jet, blob over, leaning down
05.00 Thin jet with horizontal thin bar halfway to the pyramid prom. Little spike under half-way. Tree trunk prom slight bar to the right. Feed prom on right leaning up left 45deg.

10mm BGO Temporary till find 10mm Clave'
11.30 Bright jet leaning left, small jet to right bifurcated top with longer jet to right. Diffuse jet brighter at the right. Then upside down Comma. Little blob right of body. Jet out of top curling over to right. Ends above a jet with pointy top and hollow middle. Faint diffuse jet to the right leaning left.
Bad seeing over Church tower

04.45 BST
Realised on 127mm 3x gives 2850mm fl. So tried a 2x 1.25" ES Focal extender, recently got on ABS, for 1900mm fl. Put on 8mm stop from the 3x.
07.00 Jet with flared top and extension left towards prom. Two feeds to arch under the flared top. Hint of arch joining the first 2. Two pimples under the arch by right prom.
02.00 Pyramid hedge bright top to right. Just beyond that thin jet with spray, gap, then thin gas flame prom with dark centre.
Between right two a little bright blob in the middle off the surface.

I went back to the 110mm Vixen VISAC the PST Stage2 Mod was developed on.
With bino-viewers and 10x eyepieces '25mm' the prominences today were acceptable for a cheap small grab and go telescope.

A useful session to understand the relations between the telescopes, the barlows and the etalons.

Cheers. Andrew.

Hi

Its amazing the difference in the details which show depending on the configuration.

And between visual and imaging.

I am hoping there are some decent images of the two main prom groups posted to compare with my memory of what I saw.

I need to start sketching I think.

Andrew.
