September 16 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time. Noon to 12:30 EDT local time ( US ). High cloudiness overcast. Temp is 66F.

Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 21.5x ( Ha )
The sun is really calm and high clouds impede me from getting a good view. I cannot see any proms at all even though GONG shows they are some present. I can see with difficulty one filament in the south and one plage in the NE. I may have briefly glimpsed a second near it towards the limb. The mottles are washed out and of low contrast.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
I think I may be glimpsing a faculae near the NE limb. I never could be quite sure of it. I can see no others on the disc. I cannot even see the granulation today! Cue ball blank and soft due to high cloudiness. SDO does show a pore in a tiny AR in the NE.

James

James:
Just had a break to get some shots in a clouded sky.
Thanks for the report.

Thanks Eric. I look forward to your results. I could not see much. We have an approaching tropical system which will bring rain tomorrow and brought clouds in today. ☁️

Well done for spotting that tiny AR in the NE :hamster: it looks like the GONG image is suffering from clouds too ;)
