September 20 2020 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Sesson taken from Dad's home near Lowndesville SC around 11:00pm EDT ( US ). Skies are clear with 65F temps. Seeing is a little below average.

Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 21.5x ( Ha )
The Sun is quite calm today. I got one filament in the SSE and another tiny one near the SW limb. Between them and slightly to the north I see a tiny bright spot of a plage. I see two prominences. One is on the SE limb and looks like a pointed candle flame. It does have a pronounced dark space beneath it. I see a tiny prom on the NW limb. The mottles are a bit soft but easily seen.

Astro-Tech AT72EDII w/Altair wedge. 21.5x and 54x ( WL )
Almost no detail at all. I can barely see granulation.

Carpe Noctem!

James

Thanks for the report James. The sun is quiet apart from a few proms.

Glad you were able to see the lovely prom, keep your eyes peeled for the new AR in the east! :hamster:

I hope your Dad's health is still continuing to improve.

Thanks for the report, James. That SE prom looks quite nice.

I am already seeing some evidence of the new AR in the NE.

Dad is doing much better. The pacemaker has made a big difference.
