Active region in CaK, September 22nd, 2020
Splendid seeing over here today, unfortunately not much time for imaging, but enough for a few videos of the new active region coming around the rim. A quickly processed version of the first:

That's a fabulous close-up of the new AR Frank. Well done in the short time available.

That's a really fine image with bright points that are, I assume, pores. Would be grateful for details of your setup and processing.

Thanks for the kind words, folks!
Alexandra, I'm still tinkering with my CaK filter stack: I have two Coronado filters (one from a PST and one from a SolarMax70CaK), the present combination is Chroma blue CCD/EO390-45/KG3/Coronado/EO394-10/Coronado (and the ARIES DERF in front, of course). I think I get better resolution now than last year (if the seeing allows, as it did a few times in the last weeks, going down as far as 0.5" for brief moments), and at least part of the reason is the KG3: It keeps the temperature of the following filters down (and I've also added a small fan to cool the KG3 itself).
John, the setup is a Mewlon210 with a front DERF and an ASI290. For processing I use only imppg, as most people here do, and GIMP for final touches.
Yesterday was another clear afternoon with really nice seeing, probably the last for the coming weeks, so I could get another shot at the AR:

Thanks, Mark and Leo!
Meanwhile it's cloudy here and autumn has arrived, but yesterday I had another hour of clear sky and good seeing (for my location, around 1.2"), however not as splendid as the days before, so one more follow-up image of the active region with lower resolution:

Hi Frank,
You have some very nice images when the seeing cooperates.
So, wish you more calm seeing and clear days.

Thanks, Valery! I hope for more of this kind of seeing too!
I processed another image from last Tuesday (September 22nd) in the meantime, an arbitrary patch of quiet solar surface.

Nice addition, I think your processing looks very natural.
