There was less mist today. With bright sunshine from early on.
Breeze from the southeast blowing into the dome.
The disturbed region moves away from the solar limb.
Using my weakest GPC for more scale but to better match the seeing.
Continuing to experiment with processing: One image different flavours.
23.09.20 Better seeing but still no spots.

Thanks.
The seeing slowly improved all afternoon.
I tried swapping BFs but thought the B1200 was more "realistic:"

These are excellent images Chris.
I also have the B1200 BF with the Lunt 60mm Ha and if eventually I could get images even half as good as yours, I would be a happy puppy.
Very well done and thanks vm

That's very kind of you to say so Terry.EGRAY_OBSERVATORY wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 4:09 pm These are excellent images Chris.

I am my own worst/best critic so often feel like a fraud posting here.
Like everybody else here I am entirely at the mercy of the seeing conditions.
Particularly when I must battle with the seeing demands of a 6" aperture.
When I look at many of the fabulous images posted here I am still shocked at their superb quality.
There is a special reality with the finest detail which still completely eludes me.
All I can do is practice at every opportunity. Often all day long. Practice flattens the learning curve.
The ZWO '174 captures 500 frames in as little as 2 seconds. Sometimes 3-4 seconds.
Which, with patience and anticipation can overcome image drift, thermal and wind effects to add an extra bit of luck.
Endless repetition and lots of captures are my real "secret weapons."
A large [27"] good quality monitor, with the live viewing panels expanded to their maximum in each software, helps.
I am seeing a huge disk as I capture [SharpCap] stack [AS!3] and sharpen in ImPPG.
Then I polish and colour my final images in PhotoFiltre [more free software.]
Gamma, Saturation and Histogram are its most powerful tools.
I am also raised well off the ground in my plywood dome. So I am not bothered by ground currents.
Being surrounded in fields, hedges, shrubs and trees may help.
They cast deep shadows on the ground between myself and the sun.
Though they do limit the time when the sun is accessible.

Re: 23.09.20 Better seeing but still no spots.
Hi Chris,
Thanks for your itemised account of your imaging techniques, which I have noted a couple of items for me to try out in future, as I have gone back to the beginning in the learning-curve and will be trying out different things in due course - slowly too.
A large screen is a must and with my new computer (not a laptop) there are two of those (one HD) and the other is mounted on a long-rotatable arm so it can be very close to the 3-scopes for more accurate focusing etc.
I also use SharpCap and AS!2 or !3 with the captures times varying at the moment between some single-frames and 100/200/500 frames dependent on the seeing conditions (between the clouds etc.) and likewise are quite quick with 3 x Altair GPCAM's. I am thinking of investing with 3xZWO cams in the near future and also have a StarLightXpress HX-916 yet to be tried for Solar imaging.
As you say, there are so many fantastic images from so many SolarChatters, that it has opened my eyes to newer targets in the future...
Best Wishes and more of your excellent images - please.
Regards
Terry
