Active region on Sept 24

Post by gabrieli »

September seems to be a month for very hazy skies when cooler weather brings better daytime seeing. Here in my location, the solar imaging season lasts until the beginning of November, when the sun gets very low and temperature very cold. If there is a special solar event, I will image
using smaller instruments.

The image below was taken with a 180 Mak at 2700 mm (prime) stopped to 150 mm using a Daystar Quark Combo (chromosphere version).

That's a cracking image Lou, so making the most of what you can now - is certainly producing fab images.

Thanks everyone.

It was a nice surprise this morning to see my image on the "front page". I general, I like seeing other people's work because I know what I'm trying to hide with my own processing limitations and other frustrations.

By the way, using an older 150mm ERF in its own cell on my 180 Mak brings the f/15 light beam to f/18 which the Quark Combo seems happy enough to work with with no additional optics added.

I also have a Baader 135 mm ERF which I will try with this 180 Mak once its cell arrives from Teleskop Service(they do some very fine work on these cells).
This smaller ERF would bring the f/ down to f/21.

The mounting diameter for these ERFs was chosen so that they can be mounted on various scopes.

Telescope service cells are very good I agree. I do like a nice bit of engineering and manufacture.
