45min timelapse of retreating sunspot and partial disc
Life has been busy, first time out in a long time, and last time before prepping and packing for an over seas move, but got a nice late fall warm day to get out one more time before the chaos begins, lol. Seeing was poor, but managed some detail for the animation.
Gif is forward playing only. It was supposed to be a full hour time lapse, but I misjudged how close a tree's shadow was and lost the sun with 15min to go. Lost some of the little detail in the gif conversion, but what can ya do:)

Mesmerising! I'm envious....
Call me Geoff.
I do what I do because I want to, and because I can....
Doesn't mean I know what I'm doing, though!

Re: 45min timelapse of retreating sunspot and partial disc
As Alto has said and quite a fabulous view of what happened there.
15 marks out of 10.
Also shows what the ASI 178 & 2.5 X TV & the 0.5FR can do (which I have both with my 60mm Ha, so will have to try myself).
Thanks for showing your work
Terry

Re: 45min timelapse of retreating sunspot and partial disc
Ya, this was from Nov 2nd, around 1pm Mountain time. However, after having seen Egray's image of the new sunspot, I think I might be wrong, this might actually be from the new sunspot coming around and not from the old sunspot leaving! Amateur mistake on my part I think, oops:)
And thank you, moving is always stressful but should be okay in the end. I'll be moving from Colorado State in the US to Hawaii State, on the island of Maui, so hoping after I get settled in and work/life calms down, I'll be able to get to the top of Haleakala national park and get some clear shots of the sun, planets and deep space. Hoping 10,000 feet of elevation in the middle of the Pacific will lend itself to at least occasional improved atmospheric clarity for my favorite hobby of astrophotography.

Re: 45min timelapse of retreating sunspot and partial disc
Thanks! However, after seeing your latest shot of the new sunspot moving around, I think I may have been confused on what I myself was imaging, as I think my animation is actually of that new sunspot and not the old sunspot, since I can see a defined sunspot in my still image from that same session of the same place. Amateur mistake on my part, I get quite disoriented when imaging the sun...EGRAY_OBSERVATORY wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 1:11 pm As Alto has said and quite a fabulous view of what happened there.

I know which way up to have my ZWO camera for an "upright" image. [Cable pointing downwards.]
Though I usually cheat and use Gong-Ha website for more precise orientation.

Good luck with the move. You have us all feeling very jealous!

Re: 45min timelapse of retreating sunspot and partial disc
Yes I do think your fab animation could well be the S.E. Limb of AR2781.
As I also have the same cameras as you for my Ha and Cak scopes, I also have been told that the first images captured and posted this week
were also the wrong way, so it just another chore to check and correct in due course and most probably this week - if the weather allows.
One way or the other, your image could be the best of the bunch - so far...
Hawaii eh ! I do hope that your move goes well and you can enjoy the future on Maul, plus its' benefits.
Cheers
Terry
