November 6 2020 Observations. WL pictures.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is between 11:00am and 11:45am EST local time ( US ). Temp is 65F. Skies have some high cloudiness. Seeing fair.

Coronado SolarMax II 90 DS. 32x, 44.5x and 64x ( Ha )
AR12781 is easily seen with it's bright plages and sunspots in the SE. I can easily see a filament within it. I can also see a few bright areas within the plage. The AR affects the spicule field in it's surroundings, pushing it outwards and aside. AR12780 to the NW can be seen containing a long thin wormlike filament. It's plage is fainter but can be seen.

I see three filaments in the northern hemisphere and two in the southern hemisphere to the SW of AR12781. I see three prominence areas on the limb. A bright jagged one in the NW, a group in the NE with a faint detached one hanging above the middle prom and another one near AR12781 on the SE limb. 64x does reveal the spicule layer on the limb and the diskwide mottles show good contrast today.

Celestron NexStar 102 w/Altair wedge and 540nm + UV/IR cut filter. 55x and 110x ( WL )
The spots of AR12781 show very nice detail in the scope. The leading one being very symmetrical. A closer look does show some ragged edges on it's umbra. The second largest spot in the group has two umbrae within a common umbra. The southern one is elongated. Between both major spots is another group of spots. AR12780 to the NW shows a tiny sunspot flanked by two pores to it's south. The faculae to AR12781 is becoming fainter as it recedes from the limb and I cannot see the one to AR12780 at all. I can see the fine solar granulation today.

I have attached three WL iPhone images today.

Carpe Lumen!

James

They still lack the sharpness I am looking for. Full disc does better I think.
