Full disk 08-11-2020

Post by rsfoto »

Hi,

Here the discs of November 8, 2020 and a timelapse over 140 minutes of AR 12781.

https://rainerehlert.com/00_SCHForum/11 ... SR_USM.mp4

AR 12780 is showing very shy pores at about +21° and +18° in the Northwestern quadrant while AR 12781 is still showing off himself.

Thanks for the view Rainer. Nice job as usual. I was clouded out again today. Tomorrow doesn't look good here either.

There is something quite mesmerizing about the time-lapse, is that a continuous video that has been compressed into a short time or is it an animation? apologies if you have already explained it and I missed it :)

Hi Alexandra,

It is an animation. I take every fixed 15 seconds a short AVI of 50 frames. Batch process them all in AviStack into JPG images.

The JPG images are then imported into Adobe Premiere Elements and then I make the mp4 video. I import again the mp4 video into Adobe Premiere Elements and apply a Shake Reduction as well as a Unsharp Mask.

That is all

The shake reduction sounds very interesting, do tell further :)
It looks so smooth it looks real time!

Shake Reduction is a built in Fix in Adobe Premiere Elements and you can define some parameters which one has to define via Trial & Error as well as the Unsharp Mask values ...

Once you found the values you like you just leave it there.

Hi James,

Who said Solar watching or imaging is a cheap hobby ?

You do not need a sophisticated mount when it comes to solar watching or imaging but stay away from iOptron.

I am in contact with a Russian professional astronomer from the space debris organization and lots of their monitoring stations use SkyWatcher mounts.

I like Sky-Watcher. They seem to be of decent quality. I have a Sky-Watcher 12" Dobsonian.

Hello again Rainer.
Your images and the animation are fab.
AR2780, doesn't seem to know whether to show a spot or not, as over the last few days has shown - "Now you see it, now you don't"...

Yes James, SkyWatcher certainly seem to make good products at a reasonable price as my EQ6 Alt-AZ has proven. I didn't need its' heavy-duty tripod, so that was returned and refunded over £100, which I gather was quickly resold as a new unused item. In any case the mount itself is very heavy and can take a heavy-load and is available for EQ and/or AZ use, mine being used in EQ and with the SynScan HBX and PC connectivity is easily able to track the Sun, Lunar etc. rates very well over long periods.
But of course you are likely to only get (if you need to) a much smaller mount for a single scope...

Maybe a very early Easter pressy ??

Cheers
Terry
