As can be seen from the latest STEREO image of today 13/11/2020, another VERY-LARGE AR is approaching the S.E.Limb and expected to be visible within the next two-days onwards.
spaceweather.com are quoted as saying:-
" FARSIDE SUNSPOTS: NASA's STEREO-A spacecraft is monitoring a pair of UV hotspots on the far-side of the Sun that might be big Sunspots. We will find out soon enough. The active regions will rotate into view over the Sun's eastern limb 3 to 5 days from now. "
We might even be seeing more of these multiple Sun-spot regions - nice !!
Cheers
Terry

Re: (MUCH) MORE ACTION EXPECTED-SOON AFTER 13-11-2020
Very good news!!
The activity does seem to be rather southern hemisphere dominant. Last cycle the first half was very northern hemisphere dominant, I wonder if the dominant hemispheres swap each cycle too?
Alexandra

Re: (MUCH) MORE ACTION EXPECTED-SOON AFTER 13-11-2020
I believe Alexandra, that there is a relationship between changes from the northern and southern hemispheres at the times of change-overs from one cycle to another. Perhaps some research around the 11-year averages previously might confirm that...

Meantime in NE Scotland I have cloud and rain for the next couple of daytime periods.....
Call me Geoff.
I do what I do because I want to, and because I can....
Doesn't mean I know what I'm doing, though!

Re: (MUCH) MORE ACTION EXPECTED-SOON AFTER 13-11-2020
Thanks Franco, Geoff, Eric and Rainer.
I used to read these SWPC/USAF/NOAA summaries and still do occasionally.
Interesting that they use only the four figure AR#...
Also the summary is a little over-ambitious with the return-dates of 2778/2779, as the beginning of the long AR - will not occur before 00:01z 14 Nov..
Presumably the AR#'s (if issued) will change to AR2783 etc,, for that event when visibuibble .. ??
Thanks for that reminder Rainer...
