Visual Report 01/12/2020

Post by AndiesHandyHandies »

Hi

We had a nice sunny morning with a gentle breeze.

Tried the Quark Chromo 4.2x on the 127mm Meade F7.5 Triplet with 32mm Meade SP.

11.30 UT Good details round the two spots. Could see radiating rays as in images.

Swapped to Quark Prom 4.2x.

Proms brighter with more contrast.

The two proms near the two spots. Leaping bison on the right facing three falling flares. There was a bright edge under the bison and three bright spots on the bottom of the falling flares.

In the Chromo there were two thin proms down to the right. Only one seen on the Prom but a dim area nearby in Gong.

On the opposite side there was a broad prom leaning up with a hollow base. A small flare above bent down.

12.15 UT Went back to the Chromo but on a 3x Vision King Tele-extender barlow and 25mm Clave'.

Still nice details. A small white spot in a little black are by the lighter component of the larger spot.

12.45 UT went to 2x ES Tele-Extender.

The whole sun visible with proms visible around.

By then herring bone clouds drifting over. Increasing contrast as rolled over.

Actually tried cross-polarisers which did help with contrast.

Certainly a good session.

Cheers. Andrew.

Flares!?

Very nice! It looks like I am going to miss out due to clouds. I have snow in the area but none at my house with it being at higher altitudes northwest of here.

Thanks for the session report.

James
