December 1 2020 Observations. Brief WL Session.

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Session time is from 1:14pm to 1:30pm EST local time ( US ). Skies are mostly cloudy. The temperature is a cold 34F. Seeing is fair. This was a quick grab and go with my scope at the sliding glass door to the back deck.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope 27.5x ( WL )
The large spot of AR12786 now in the SW quadrant I find comical. I find it resembling a large headed animal facing west with it's tail stuck up! The umbra looks connected by only a small waist but more power might show a thin light bridge there. I see three tiny spots at the butt of the animal. Below the upright penumbral tail. There is a smattering of smaller spots/pores to the SE of this big one.

The spot of AR12785 is still there pretty much unchanged.

I see a new active region complete with faculae and a spot showing umbra and penumbra in the SE not far off the limb.

Carpe Lumen!

James

P.S. The 8x32 Lunt SUNoculars easily picks up the big spot of AR12786 and I can also see the one in AR12785. The one near the SE limb can be seen too!

James:
Thanks for the report.
I got a couple of shots, because it clouded all over.
Regards,
Eric.
