December 15th - Ha Series

Post by MapleRidge »

Good day everyone...

My week off work was interrupted by a meeting I had to attend this morning and wasn't home until just prior to the noon hour, but went to the scope as soon as I got home to grab some images in the clear, cold sunshine!

The first images were through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1800Ha solar scope with the ASI174MM camera. The images are a composite of separate disk and limb images and in each version the limb is inverted to enhance the proms. It was great to see the activity level holding up as well a multiple filaments and proms as well:

The seeing was not very good by the time I was imaging, but I took a chance to set up the 2.7X telecentric on the modded CR-150/DSII/B1800Ha and managed to get some reasonable results ob the main features visible. The first is a 2 frame mosaic of AR's 2793 and 2792 which were on the SE quadrant. This image had the DSII pressure set at 0PSI which gave a deep red continuum image:

The next image was tuned to HA wit the DSII set at 15PSI:

There was a nice chain of filaments located to the east of the AR's as well:

The poor seeing made the prom imaging more of a challenge, but a few turned out well enough:

A short session today, but I was happy with the results in the poor conditions.

As always, questions and comments are welcome.

Brian

Stunning work Brian! All are Magnum Opus quality. The colored one catches the eye first but all show your skills off well.

Excellent work, Brian. Love the filaments on the inverted FD (very 3D).
