Sunspots 23rd Jan

Post by JohnW »

23rd Jan. A nice steady and clear morning allowed me to take this pic of the new sunspot group AR2799 together with older groups AR2797 and 2798. Most activity this year has been in the southern hemisphere but this new group is in the north. All spots are small. Taken with a Canon 550d on a WO 81 mm scope with herschel wedge. Thanks for viewing.

I didn’t notice the new AR12799 when I observed through high clouds earlier today but I did notice it on Mark Townley’s CaK images.

Very nice. You have shown it has developed spots!!

Fab image John of the new AR and its' older ones too.

Hopefully you might be the first to capture the AR at the N.E.Limb where there might already be a spot or more... That AR is very active and the latest SDO images at 0300z - are certainly showing what is possibly a very large Sun-spot.

Thanks for sharing
Terry
