25Jan HA Sun from Singapore
We were covered by clouds yesterday (24 Jan21)
Are these asperitas clouds? With them around, the canvas cover over the scope did not have a chance to be taken off.
The cloud situation was better today (25 Jan 21). The setup was ARIES D-ERF at full aperture on the faithful C11 + Daystar H-A Chromosphere + Basler acA1920-155um
Fairly good imaging, considering the disturbing clouds all round:
AR2799 on the northern hemisphere near the western limb
The active region near the eastern limb (northern hemisphere)
Please do a right-click and click on "+" to see the images in their full resolution.
Cheers.
Alfred

They're amazing Alfred, especially so given that cloud cover.
I'm curious Alfred, you're observing from your usual spot in the 'round garden' - what surrounds the buildings?

Hi Alfred,
Well done despite the clouds. I guess the clouds on 24th were Alto Cumulus clouds

Re: 25Jan HA Sun from Singapore
They really are beautiful cloud formations (if I am allowed to say that on a solar forum ). Superb images too, looks like you imaged the little hotspot Brian saw too

Nice images, Alfred
Hope you will catch better seeing and make even better images.

Re: 25Jan HA Sun from Singapore
Thanks, Mark for your kind comment. There are more low-rise school buildings behind this building in the round garden. There are better locations in the school for solar imaging but this is the best location best trade-offs in terms of students' access and imaging requirementsmarktownley wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 4:18 pm

Hi Rainer,
Nice to know the proper name of this type of clouds. Thanks! Glad we only have time very rarely.

Thanks, Valery. The Quark is still doing well. Its electronic components have a life duration and I hope it can last Cycle 25.

Thanks for your kind comment.
I hope I don't get into trouble with 1 more picture on not Asperitas clouds, but Alto Cumulus clouds taken by a friend on the same day Thanks Rainer for pointing our my mistake

Re: 25Jan HA Sun from Singapore
I got one very nice 0.4A Quark wich is 5 year old now. It doing well and I keep it always with a dessictant in it's plastic
barrel and use it only when the seeing is good and air humidity is not near 90% or so. Keep your best Quark for best
days.
Humidity is the main enemy.

Alfred:
Very good images, looks like you had the same cloudiness as I did on the 23rd of January, though mine loo that are higher and produced a halo.
Best regards.
