FD solar 7th February 2021

Post by Stardust5858 »

Hi all, after some awful weather over nine days of cloud I got an impromptu session for an hour before the clouds returned. Lunt 60mm DS and Zwo ASI 178mm. False colour added in PS CS2. Seems like there may be a new plage area on the eastern limb. Some lovely arch prom's too.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it either, supposed to have been cloudy all day, then I got a clear hour in the afternoon.

Stardust,
I can see all the filaments I found visually today in your images but your images show up several more than I could not see. All small but there! I also can see the tiny plage counterpart of the faculae that GONG CerroTololo failed to show and that I could not see visually though I could see the facula in continuum.

Your images also exceed in number and detail in the prominences compared to what I could pick up visually.

Awesome work and I love the colorized image!!

Thanks James, appreciate your comments. Yes, there was quite a few smaller filaments and nice prom's. I could easily see the associated plage area on the limb, hopefully it'll grow and we get some more activity.

Hi there Nigella, you have captured and processed some very-impressive images for today.

In fact considering the UK's weather in general, the fact that you have even been able to see the Sun is quite amazing.

The colouring is fabulous and even though I have exactly the same scope and two new ASI 178 cameras for Ha and Cal-K, I can't wait to be able to both see the Sun from the observatory as well as start getting some much better images than my previous in November.

Snow - here today and more to come...

Best Wishes and thanks vm for sharing.

An excellent FD showing many details, Nigella. Yesterday we got 7” of snow on top of the 13” that were already on the ground. No imaging here but watching the Super Bowl was fun.

The talk of snow has taken the front position on a lot of comments lately ;) :bow

If Nigella wants snow she should speak to Terry...he has some on the ground and no import duties, just take it away

Franco, you had more snow this weekend than I did...lots on the ground to start with but only 2-3 inches fell on Saturday.

Stay warm and dry everyone!

Nice comment Brian and I wouldn't even charge Nigella for the privilege of taking-away some of my snow as its' snowing again heavily here at 0200+z/
9-1-2021 and it would certainly save me the effort of any snow-clearing too. Nigella is welcome to borrow my snow-shovel as well...

And if you can't make the journey to S.E.England Nigella, then you will just have to wait for the snow to reach you...

Best wishes
Terry
