Sun in H-Alpha 11th of February 2021

Post by arnedanielsen »

Hi all,

Another cold and sunny day here in Norway allowed for this quick imaging session during lunch.

Sun_114704_Ha_20210211_ZWO ASI178MM_lapl5_ap3358_Sharpened_Contrast.jpg (2 MiB) Viewed 250 times
Equipment used for this image was a Coronado SolarMax 60 II w/BF15 filter, Baader 35nm H-Alpha filter and ASI ZWO 178MM camera. Everything mounted on a Sky-Watcher SolarQuest mount.
Stack of the best 60% (1650 of 2751) images captured with an exposure time of 24ms and 30fps. Stacking done in Autostakkert 3, sharpening in AstraImage and contrast stretching in Adobe PhotoShop.

Best regards,
Arne

Well done Arne! I hope the sun is getting higher a bit from your far northern location in Norway.

Really nice disk Arne. How do you find the Solarquest mount for imaging?

Thanks, Mark!

I’m very happy with the SolarQuest mount. It works great for this light grab-and-go setup and makes it possible to do some quick imaging sessions also during the short winterdays. I just carry the complete setup outside, turn it on and by the time I’ve managed to fetch and connect my laptop it has located and started tracking the Sun. The mount have a bit of backlash in the gears, but it’s manageable for this short focallength.

Best regards,
Arne
