13-2-2021 SATURDAY REPORT/FORECAST

Post by EGRAY_OBSERVATORY »

Not much to say about spots, but in the north there is a possible AR that might produce one as the sun rotates.

The long filament is well shown again in the SDO image and Proms are well worth imaging today.

Nothing obvious to forecast from the STEREO image - for the next few days...

Cheers
Terry

More proms and filaments to come in the SE Terry - look at the stereo over the limb, see where the dark arcuate line mirrors what is on the disk already? This is the suns southern jet stream. It's the boundary of 'light and dark' that might spawn some emerging flux regions at the magnetic boundary line, as has on the geo-effective side (even if no spots!).

Indeed Mark - I can see what you mean on the STEREO image and well-interesting - thanks vm.

I still wish that the STEREO-B satellite would burst back into life, as was so interesting to see the other-side and follow more closely what was happening or likely to happen previously... Can we save-up enough to tell NASA to get another satellite up there ?? (I didn't mean save-up dosh)...

Also thanks to Alexandra and Franco.

Out now to brave the cold-wind/1.8-degsC for the first time since last week-end... Brrrh !!!

Cheers
Terry

Thanks for the update Terry. Clouds/rain here in WNC so I have to rely on SolarChat and SDO and GONG to see the Sun today.

Thanks Nigella and James. Still a tad too-cold today here - even though some Sun-shine.

The latest SDO imagery - similar to previously reported is attached.

Cheers
