Certainly an increase in contrast and detail as the images stack up!

Re: Today's H-alpha SUN (20210214) | single/double/triple Stack
Excellent detail and comparison of set ups Pedro. 60mm double stack would be my choice of the three, but triple stack is still impressively bright and detailed considering the 40mm aperture

The triple stack certainly has the contrast but seems to lack a little on the resolution compared to the double stack. Thumbs up on the Pronto!

Thanks again guys
The triple stack image has a good contrast but low definition (lots of glass | 3 etalons)

Re: Today's H-alpha SUN (20210214) | single/double/triple Stack
Sweet comparison Pedro, love it!
The double stack is the best balance of chromosphere and resolution. While the triple stack shows supreme contrast on chromosphere features, it came at a compromise as the features themselves seems blurred, maybe from capture time from dim transmission? Not sure.
Very best,

Hi Pedro...
This session produced excellent images...well done
The TS shows the most contrast, just came out soft compared to the DS image.

Re: Today's H-alpha SUN (20210214) | single/double/triple Stack
It could be the 40mm aperture to in part. The smaller the aperture the less the resolution. We are not downing the triple stack image Pedro, the contrast is excellent but as with most things when you gain something you lose something. It's often a compromise.MalVeauX wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 10:06 pm Sweet comparison Pedro, love it!

Agreeing with the many replies Pedro, the DS is my fav, albeit some excellent contrast with the TS.

Re: Today's H-alpha SUN (20210214) | single/double/triple Stack
Very nice Pedro! They came out well. I too got that soft fuzzy view when I tried triple stacking, I just think it is because there is so much glass.

Re: Today's H-alpha SUN (20210214) | single/double/triple Stack
Excellent images, Pedro. Interesting to see the effect of triple stacking. Presumably the exposure times increase quite significantly with more glass and three etalons. Is it this that gives more blurring?

Re: Today's H-alpha SUN (20210214) | single/double/triple Stack
Indeed, as the bandpass is reduced, the details become fuzzier. This is because a higher height in the chromosphere is sampled. When going upward from the photophere, the magnetic tubes expand, which explains this fuzzier appearance.MalVeauX wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 10:06 pm Sweet comparison Pedro, love it!

Very best,
This beeing, this is probablly one part of the explanation, the other part beeing the smaller aperture (40 mm vs 60 mm).

The triple stack is a winner but yes, a bit more fuzzy
