20/21-2-2021 WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AND NO FORECAST

Post by EGRAY_OBSERVATORY »

Well today has again - not been able to forecast what could be happening over the next 3+days, as the STEREO site appears to be down since Friday.

But the number of fab-images from SolarChatters has certainly made-up for showing the detail of AR2803 and its' spots, where two are quite obvious and as many as three more surrounding to the north may be emerging..

Prominence captures have also shown how well some of us have been able to show here today. There may not have been many proms, but those that have been captured - are as good (if not better) than the professionals/satellites... (Shame that the weather has prevented many others from even seeing the Sun today)..

I was able to take a little advantage of hazy-seeing earlier today and did use the WL zoomable Spotting Scope, but could barely see the spots and was hoping to have a first-light session with the newly adapted ETX-125 and the Revolution R2 Imaging System, but after I finished completing the power-supplies wiring, the clouds had prevented that..

I've just included some web-images today and hopefully soon will be able to advise on what's coming our way whenever..

Cheers
Terry

Thanks Terry, today is a much 'brighter' day than yesterday, but i'll be surprised if it clears enough for me to be able to see the sun.

Thanks Nigella and Mark and I do hope you both get a clearing for some more images.

Here in the S.E. there are some bright spells with a chance of trying-out the new set-up, so hopefully....

Cheers
Terry

Thanks Alexandra, but here in S.E.England its' been a tad Sunny most of the day and given me the chance of having the "first-light" of the trials of the ETX-125 in WL with an Orion Glass Solar Filter and the HW. I had to make a quick F-stopper at 65mm, where another at around 50 and 60mm will likely be required with the HW.

Not quite enough time to take any images with the R2 system today, but in any case could barely see the spots and the air was turbulent too.

Quite pleased so far and more work now to do..

Cheers
Terry
